I should start by saying that I make many of these mistakes myself.
This is part of me going back to the foundations, reflecting on what I'm doing, and trying to understand the bigger picture.
And to be clear, product distribution is hard. Really hard.
Everyone talks about product distribution as if it's the hardest part of the game nowadays.
And yes, it is important.
But product distribution is part of sales and marketing, which are management disciplines.
Management itself is multidisciplinary.
Great managers don't ignore what has already been proven. They understand the different parts of the game and know how they work together.
To build a successful product, which many of us want, we need more than just a good idea. We need to plan and execute properly.
Good managers know how to do that effectively.
And great managers think long term. That is where strategic management comes in.
Strategic management is a serious and continuous process that connects all areas of a business.
Yet many of us are still sharing links left and right, hoping to make a quick buck and look good.
Maybe we should spend more time going back to the foundations and thinking about the bigger picture.
